Bob Smith Update: Marilyn

Editors Note: A recent submission from Bob, hate the incident, love the soluton Bob!

In this latest instalment, my venerable VA has now moved its base to Hobart, Tasmania and now has exceeded 60 countries and all 7 continents. It has spent more than 100 days at sea. With
each airline changing instrument policies, staff training falling off and airlines saving by making overhead bins smaller this guitar has now been damaged 3 times.

The last one due to breaking and delaminating the faceplate on the headstock. No direct replacement available it has now become a piece of art which I’ve named Marilyn… it of course is
perfectly playable!

None of the 150+ pieces of wood in the headstock are stained.

Given the many journeys and poor flight experiences I have some ideas of how the case can be changed. In the meantime Marilyn has retired from short-haul flying which affects a lot of travel
around islands, between European counties and interstate in the USA.
